The few times I've seen this picture, I think, "Why is the lockbox on the inside of the house?" Well, obviously, it's not. The agent decided it would make a better picture to leave the door open, and include it in the shot.

I'm not feeling very clever today, so instead, let me just explain that if you're an agent, and you're taking the pictures for your client to use on the MLS, feel free to move stuff before you take the shot. We don't need to see an empty cup, laundry piled on a chair, or all the crap on the dresser. Plus, how hard is it to get the picture level?

It wasn't the agent's fault - the kitchen really is this blurry. Blurry kitchens are great for parties - your friends will feel like they've been drinking for hours before they even have a drink.

Trash Can Update

I've done a few code changes with the rating system.
The ratings weren't carrying over from page to page,
but now it does. Problem is, if I fix the first 21
photos, I will lose all of the ratings. I have also
added a new "Worst of the Trash" in the sidebar that
shows the worst MLS pictures based on the ratings. As
you can see, the results are pretty bad, and clicking
on a picture just takes you back to this page - not
what I intended. If I switch the code on all the
pictures, it should start working, but again, I'll
lose the old ratings.
So here's what I need. If you see this page, and the ratings all have very low vote counts (1 or 2), I have changed the code and need you to re-rate the pics. It only takes a second to click on a star, and it will help establish the absolute worst pictures on the MLS.

Many buyers today are less concerned with square footage, and more concerned with a house having 70s beads or not. These beads are a huge selling point, and the Realtor did a good job showcasing them.

This one takes a minute to register - there's a lot going on. The picture does a good job of showing that the master bedroom is clearly large enough to run a full gym AND a tanning salon (see the white thing on the bottom right of the picture).

A Little Explanation

The past few days have been a bit of a mess. I have
been having trouble with some of the code on this
site, I lost my DSL due to a thunderstorm, and I
subconsciously stole the idea for this page from a
fellow blogger.
Without getting too deep into it, I started this page as a fun way to show bad uses of photography Realtors use to market their clients' homes. It's amazingly simple to find terrible pictures on the MLS here in Orlando, so posting a new picture everyday would be a cakewalk. After adding this page to my photography site, I started hearing that I had stolen the idea from Athol at REagentinCT. He has a long-running series called, "Bad MLS Photo of the Day." I became very clear that I had seen this series only a few days prior to launching this page, and clearly it stuck in my subconscious as a great idea. After about 10 apology (due to my total embarrassment) emails to Athol, I told him I would take the site down. Athol posted about the situation, and suddenly, I started receiving emails asking me to leave my page up...that there was room for another site like this. Athol did say that his only problem was that my titles were nearly identical to his, so I've decided to keep the page alive, but I've changed the titles of the posts, and will be giving Athol credit in the sidebar for the great work he is doing with his series.
Does it make me a jerk for not removing the page after I said I would? Maybe. But after the emails I've received, it's clear that people want to see these shots, and apparently one a day doesn't fill their needs. I'm hoping Athol and I can share similar space on this topic.
